Tarlan
Tarlan font remembers the past, but never repeats it.
Tarlan did not begin as the revival of an existing script. It emerged through the observation of different writing traditions, where letterforms were repeatedly explored with pen and ink—free from the formal rules of any single script. Through this process, new forms gradually evolved into a language of their own.
Traces of various writing traditions remain embedded in these forms, not as quotations to be preserved, but as qualities reinterpreted within a new visual system. Familiar echoes may occasionally appear, yet no single script alone defines Tarlan.
Its compact proportions, continuous curves, and sharp terminals create a rhythm that remains fluid without losing refinement. It is this balance that gives Tarlan its distinctive visual character.
Tarlan is a single-weight typeface designed for headlines and short to medium-length texts, where the presence of the letterforms is as important as their readability. It allows form to express itself without overwhelming the content.
The name was chosen only after the typeface had fully taken shape. Once the letterforms had found their own character, Tarlan became the name that reflected it most naturally.
Tarlan font has built its language not from similarity, but from the coexistence of differences.
