Update November 25, 2022

The Studio typeface is a recreation of a forgotten old typeface. Following the advent of desktop publishing, some commonly used printed letters were converted into computer fonts. However, the letters you will see below were not part of that category and have recently been reconstructed by the studio office based on old printed samples, transforming them into a typeface.

To evoke a sense of antiquity and nostalgia, the Studio typeface features slight abrasions, intentional irregularities in letter connections, and deliberate disproportions. Therefore, while these letters were distinctive for their time in printed text, the Studio typeface is considered a display typeface, suitable for creating a vintage feel in graphic works

The Freshly Aged Letters!

Graphic designers, web and virtual space designers, publishers, media professionals, stage designers, artists, and all those who deal with Perso/Arabic typefaces often face the challenge of a lack of letters with a retro atmosphere when creating nostalgic spaces.

For this reason, whenever the need arises to infuse a sense of the past using a typeface, we must either disregard it or hastily launch our work by manipulating existing samples!

The Studio typeface, reconstructed, modified, and executed under the supervision of Majid Kashani, was completed in 2017 in Studio Daftar. A considerable number of old newspapers, books, magazines, and advertisements served as sources for extracting letters and ligatures used in this typeface. Initially, the font was introduced for a limited time on the "Iranian Organ Donation" website, with all its proceeds dedicated to the treatment of patients in need of organ transplantation. After three years, in November 2021, it was available on the "Fontiran" website.

Team members at Studio Daftar for this project included:

Art Director: Majid Kashani

Collaborators: Malika Hosseini, and Meraj Qanbari With appreciation for the support from Damon Khanjanzadeh, Mohammadreza Abdolali
