Samir
Samir Typeface comes in 3 weights: Regular, Medium, and Bold. Each of these weights includes Latin glyphs, allowing for text adjustment in both Latin and Arabic languages within a single typeface.
The Samir Typeface is a typeface with a high contrast ratio that draws inspiration from a calligraphic style written by an Iranian calligrapher. Initially, Vahid Karami, a skilled calligrapher, transcribed the primary resources for this typeface in his distinct style. Reza Ghaffari then modified the letters through several stages, creating various texts and refining the final result to transform the letters into the style you now see in the Samir Typeface.
This process involves a multi-year journey, starting with meticulously designing letters by hand using numerous design pencils to create a completely clean and orderly form on tracing paper with high sensitivity. As much as possible, efforts have been made to bring the designs done on tracing paper close to the final design in the software. One might assume the result is printed, not created by Reza's hands. The result is a collection of letters that showcase beauty, clarity, and quality, making it an excellent choice for various applications, including books, magazines, posters, and even environmental advertising.
To design the Latin letters of this typeface, Reza Ghafari, and Bahman Eslami have tried to design suitable Latin letters for this typeface by reviving and bringing the feeling of these letters closer to the "Samir" typeface by using the old style Caslon typeface specimens so that when using From the Persian and Latin letters of Samir font, see the same style and uniform gray. So, all the letters inside this typeface have been carefully designed for you to show extraordinary harmony together.
Another notable feature of "Samir font" is its extensive support for lines derived from the Arabic script, which makes this typeface a suitable option for printing or displaying different languages under this line.
In the "Samir Font," you'll notice unique features such as alternative forms for letters like "ر" (r), "ح" (h), "ک" (k), "م" (m), "ه" (h), and "ی" (y). Additionally, there are a plethora of ligatures, providing you with more options for creativity in typography. The inclusion of extended letters like "ب" (b), "ن" (n), "ی" (y), etc., adds a distinctive touch to your compositions that may be challenging to find in comparable samples.
The "Samir Typeface" achieved the honor of receiving a Silver Plaque in the first biennial Graphic Design Guild of Iran Awards in 2009.
